We are looking for active participants to join this unique performance !
There is no experience or specific knowhow required. Everybody can participate !
Summary:
Up to 60 participants are directed and synchronized via wireless intercom, moving from one place to the other in Manhattan. The guides and directors of the performance are Christian Kuntner and Astride Schlaefli, two performing artists from Switzerland.
Through direct control of the actions, we influence the flow of normality, deflect it, bring it to a standstill, or speed it up. Our intervention is subtle; it gives the place a slight temporary stir that can be mysterious, eerie, or funny.
REMOTE CITIZEN uses controlled intervention in crowded places to intensify, break, or reduce to absurdity any predominant dynamics. In this way, reality and staging seamlessly blend into each other.
Following the successful 30 performances in many towns and 6 countries (for example Buenos Aires, Marseille, Istanbul, Munich, Yerevan, Zurich, Lucerne, Bern, Lausanne, Geneva), the event is going to happen for the first time in the US. We'll do it in midtown, Manhattan NYC, december 8, 2013.
The workflow:
11am : reunion, all participants will meet (we'll let you know about the directions). There will be an inroduction to the performance and a short training guided by Christian et Astride.
12.30am - 1.30pm : break, lunch (we will provide some fruits and water)
2pm : we will hit the streets of Manhattan. We will be on the road for approx. 2 hours, moving from on place to the other.
4.30pm : come back to the meeting point, sit together, eat, drink and talk.
We will be in charge of any public transport that might be necessary to accomplish the performance and are going to buy a stack of metrocards...
Once you have signed in, you will receive more detailed information via e-mail.
